Dr. Laxman Kewalramani, born in India, relocated to the United States to further his studies in bone and joint care, spinal diseases, and pain management.  During his years in academia he became known worldwide as an expert in his field, and he later worked at several leading spinal centers in the United States. In 1982 he opened his own private practice in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Besides being well known in his field and presently a practicing physician, Dr. Kewalramani is not only a passionate lover and collector of art, but is an artist himself. From childhood he was fascinated by the allegory between the flight of kites and life.  In his large, colorful abstract paintings he explores the possibilities of forces determining the ups and downs of human lives, facets of relationships, and family interaction. His works acknowledge the influences of important artists such as Jackson Pollock and Sam Francis, for whom he holds great admiration.  His bright colors and techniques of paint application allow the observer viewing his painting to feel inspired by the various emotions represented both on a conscious and subconscious level.

Dr. Kewalramani says, "My paintings are depictions of my human emotions, strengths and frailties. They show my struggles between love and hate, and life and death. In my paintings, the kite represents our energies and life forces, and our interactions with each other and the world around us".

In addition to actively practicing medicine, he has studied painting under Gustavo Duque for three years.  In September, 2001, Laxman K. debuted his spirited artwork with great success in Miami at 1221 Brickell Avenue. On June 2003, Laxman K. debuted his new collection entitled "Inside - Out" at the Duque Art Center - New Orleans, LA with great success.

Recently his artwork was included in Casa & Estilo Internacional, "Arte Vol. 2"  (ISBN 0-9677206-3-X)
